DESCRIPTION:“Confluence and Crossroads – Hope Ranch Annex at the Junction of Modoc and Hollister“\, Autumn Brook\, Landscape Contractor and Hope Ranch Annex resident \nThis walk will take participants along the horse paths/bike paths beside Cieneguitas Creek\, a couple of blocks of County arterials\, and down the meandering neighborhood streets of Arboleda Acres will explore the following themes: \n\nFaults\, Watersheds\, Wetlands & Springs\nChumash Village\nSpanish Catholic Chapel & Burial Grounds\nAgriculture & Horses\nRailroads and Crossroads\nPearl Chase’s Urban Homesteads\n\nThe walk will be lead by Autumn Brook\, a licensed landscape contractor and designer\, specializing in sustainable gardens. She has a strong interest in historic preservation\, geology and watershed dynamics\, native plant restoration\, and community collaboration on planning issues. DESCRIPTION:“Solving State Street’s Problems with Ideas from the Past” with Anthony Grumbine\, Architect and Historic Landmarks Commissioner. \nJoin architect and Historic Landmarks Commissioner Anthony Grumbine to compare today’s State Street and the surrounding blocks\, to what it looked like over the City’s history and how it developed to its current status.  Previous iterations of State Street included elements of urbanism such as multistory buildings\, increased density\, and even a streetcar.  Participants will consider the following question:  What inspirations from Santa Barbara’s historic roots can be used to create a more vibrant\, safe\, and economically healthy State Street? \nOur walk starts at the entrance of El Paseo on State Street (near 812 State Street\, Bryant & Sons Jewelers).
