SUMMARY:Lover's Loop at Midland School Trails
DESCRIPTION:We’re pleased to invite you to hike Lover’s Loop at Midland School Trails\, hosted by the Santa Barbara County Trails Council. Over the next few weeks\, our crew will be working on trail maintenance in the Midland School system\, and we hope you’ll join us to both enjoy and support these beautiful paths. on our hike\, we’ll wind through sunny hillsides dotted with wildflowers and shaded oak groves\, all with expansive views of the surrounding countryside. \nDistance: ~4 miles\nElevation Gain: ~750 feet\nDifficulty: Moderate \nTrail Map: Midland School Trails Map\nAllTrails Link: Lover’s Loop via Grass Mountain Trail \nTrailhead: Figueroa Mountain Rd\, Santa Ynez\, CA 93460   We will meet at the trailhead kiosk. 34.74182\, -120.06195 \nTo reach the Grass Mountain Trailhead from Santa Barbara\, start by taking Highway 154 north over San Marcos Pass. Continue for approximately 14.6 miles until you arrive at the town of Los Olivos\, where you’ll turn right onto Figueroa Mountain Road. Proceed for about 5 miles\, passing Midland School on your right. The trailhead is located 1.7 miles past the school’s entrance at 34.74182\, -120.06195. \nThe group will meet at the trailhead at 10:00 AM to ensure a prompt start. Please be punctual to respect everyone’s time. Please dress appropriately with hiking boots/shoes and comfortable clothes meant to get sweaty and possibly wet. By participating in this hike\, you agree to assume all risks and liability related to or resulting from this activity. Neither the group’s leaders nor any third party will be held liable for any injury\, loss\, or damage that may occur. Participation is based on an “at will” basis. \nWe’re lucky to have access to such stunning trails\, but keeping them safe and accessible takes effort. Consider supporting the Santa Barbara County Trails Council by volunteering or becoming a member:\nJoin the SB Trails Council \nOr contribute to their Midland School Trail fund:\nDonate to the Trail Fund \nYour support helps maintain and protect the beautiful outdoor spaces we love.

Everyone is welcome to visit the Preserve to hike\, picnic\, paint\, volunteer\, or research\, but advance reservations are required. \nOnline reservations can be made here: https://www.sblandtrust.org/arroyo-hondo-preserve-reservations/ \nDue to the sensitivity of the resources in the canyon\, dogs\, mountain bikes\, horses\, hunting\, fishing\, and campfires are not allowed. \n\nDirections to the Preserve: Traveling northbound on the U.S. Highway 101: The Preserve is about a 30-minute drive from downtown Santa Barbara. Approximately 4 miles past Refugio State Beach\, you will see a blue “Rest Area in 7 miles” sign followed closely by a yellow warning sign about falling rocks. The entrance to Arroyo Hondo is in 1/2 mile and will be visible on the right at the bottom of the hill. Make a right-hand turn into the driveway. Come down the driveway\, cross the bridge on the right and park near the barn.
