About this activity

Join hike leader Dennis Beebe and other Sedgwick docents for a moderate to strenuous interpretative hike on the Blue Schist Trail.

The trail is approximately 2.5 miles, with 630 ft. elevation gain to 1940 feet. Enjoy views of the San Rafael range – Grass Mountain, Zaca Peak, Figueroa Mountain, and Ranger Peak. Terrain is mixed chaparral, grey pine and oak woodlands, several species of sages, buckwheat, ceanothus, toyon.  Interesting geologic features include the Little Pine fault zone, Franciscan melange, serpentine outcroppings, chert and peridotite.
