Botanic Garden – Elings Park Transformation Volunteer Project

Saturday, March 8, 2025 · 9:00 am – 4:00 pm Activity website

About this activity

Santa Barbara Botanic Garden’s restoration project at Elings Park concentrates California-native plants on a one-acre site and compares the abundance, diversity, and composition of plant and animal life before and after the transformation.

Santa Barbara Botanic Garden’s transformation project at Elings Park has removed thirsty, invasive weeds and replaced them with California-native plants in a one-acre site on the Park’s south bluffs. With plants in the ground, we’re watching and gathering data related to the abundance, diversity, and composition of plant and animal life using this area to better highlight the vital role native plants have in supporting healthy, more resilient ecosystems.

And we need your help!

We’re looking for volunteers interested in clearing weeds, monitoring plant health, and more. You’ll get your hands dirty planting native seedlings and creating a healthy and nutrient-rich environment for surrounding organisms. In addition to volunteering, you can also come with us on our monthly Nature Walks.
