About this activity

[SOLD OUT] Join the Land Trust for an educational walk highlighting the mushrooms found at Arroyo Hondo Preserve! Land Trust Treks are a series of free, guided public hikes and outdoor experiences to explore Santa Barbara County with your local Land Trust.

[SOLD OUT]

Join the Land Trust for a special guided foray at our beloved Arroyo Hondo Preserve on Sunday, April 6th from 10 am to 1 pm! A foray is an activity that aims to educate participants about mushroom identification, ecology, and conservation. It’s important to note that foraying is different from foraging, which is not permitted in the preserve. Learn about the amazing mycological network that exists just underneath our feet! We’ll have an interactive table set up with fungi samples and educational recources to show the group in case we miss our window due to weather.

This slow-paced walk will be roughly 2 miles on variable terrain and will include multiple stopping points. Some elevation gains are found throughout the trail. A few creek crossings will be required, so hiking/tennis shoes are recommended. The weather is variable at the preserve, so dressing in layers is recommended. Water, parking, and bathrooms are available at the preserve. Space is limited, please sign up early to reserve your spot!
